Join the Friends for our first Studio Visit of 2015!
Since 2011 Kim Lowe has taken on a community role, initiating and coordinating projects in Christchurch and overseas.
In 2012 she coordinated Shared Lines: Sendai-Christchurch Art Exchange in Sendai and Shiogama, Japan and then also the reciprocal project to bring art and artists from Sendai to Christchurch and Queenstown the following year. Late last year Kim established Toi Te Karoro (Art New Brighton) in central New Brighton. This is a shared workspace for artists and musicians and is also used for workshops, seminars and events.
Kim completed a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts in 2009. Her art practice explores aspects of her mixed-race ancestry. Kim has exhibited widely in New Zealand and is currently working on a new body of work for projects to be held in Australia and China later this year.
Meet Grant Banbury at Toi Te Karoro, 186a Shaw Avenue, Central New Brighton, upstairs next to Pier Law and above the Community Law Centre, at 10.20 am.
Studio Visits are for Friends only and cost $15. Please pay by cash or cheque on the day.
