The Boy and the Heron (君たちはどう生きるか) is a 2023 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by legendary director Hayao Miyazaki and produced by animation powerhouse Studio Ghibli.

The story follows a boy named Mahito who moves to the countryside during the war and discovers an abandoned tower near his new home where he encounters a mysterious grey heron. 

The Boy and the Heron received critical acclaim worldwide and won Best Animated Feature Film at the Academy Awards, the BAFTA Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and the Japanese Film Academy.
