This previously unattributed painting in roughly applied oils has a real sense of immediacy about it. The raw and energetic brushstrokes reveal a confident hand able to quickly render a convincing landscape within an intense midday light. The rendering is not concerned solely with realism, which suggests that this artist is interested in the process of painting as much as the depiction of a subject.
