In Winged orbit around the sun, ordinary materials (strips from a Meccano set, a light bulb) and a simple mechanism convey something bigger and more complex - human relationship with time, and the dangerous allure of ambition. In a deliberately low-tech and rudimentary way, it connects with the nuclear threat that was ever-present in the Cold War period.
