Part of a series entitled 'The Vault' this photograph depicts the land and marine mammals store at Te Papa Tongarewa. The triptych of trophy heads and antlers of another age highlights the changing tastes and provisional status of collections of art and artifacts. Although the store is filled to overflowing, the photograph is imbued with a sense of loss and absence. Pardington brings to his photographs a cinematic appeal that provide a fertile ground for the viewer's memory and imagination.
