The wine glass is a recurring motif in Culbert's work and was used repeatedly in the Hotere / Culbert lithograph suite 'Aramoana - Pathway to the sea.' Culbert's fascination with light is evident in this work in his focus on the reflection of light, reminiscent of a sash window frame, cast on the table top by light passing through the wine glass.
