Brilliant film footage from British Pathe of British artist Laura Knight painting fellow artist Eileen Mayo in 1927 can be seen here.
Eileen first met Laura and Harold Knight in 1927, and the couple took the young artist under their wing. She was a favoured model of Laura's and also posed for Dod Proctor and Duncan Grant as well as working as a model at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art in London.
Christchurch Art Gallery has continued to develop its holdings of Eileen's work over the past few years, with a focus on prints produced by the artist during her period in Christchurch towards the end of her career as well as a rare early wood-engraving produced around the time this movie was shot. You can view the Gallery's holdings of Eileen's work here.
