Behind the scenes

The office is a theme explored by two artists in two separate exhibitions by two galleries under the one roof in Christchurch at the moment.

Rob Hood's excellent installation of found office furniture When the mountains bow down and become valleys is currently on view in the Physics Room's exhibition Supply and Demand at 209 Tuam Street. Stacked desks, chairs, rubbish bins and whiteboards are gently rattled by electric fans... while downstairs in Christchurch Art Gallery's space Glen Hayward's hand-carved and highly ordered Matrix office cublicle, I don't want you to worry about me, I have meet some Beautiful People, has been installed.

Supply and Demand is on display at the Physics Room until 6 October while Glen Haywayd: I don't want you to worry about me, I have met some Beautiful People runs at Christchurch Art Gallery's 209 Tuam Street until 3 November.
