Locust Jones roll on

Behind the scenes

Last week saw the first change in Locust Jones's 100-metre drawing, Bankrupt, infuriated and confused at 209 Tuam Street.

The drawing, created over the course of a full year, is so large that it can only be displayed in sections. Its content was filtered from news websites, television and the papers, forming a kind of diary of the world over the year, or at least the bits of it that were grinding Jones's gears. And the way Jones created it, working on a two or three metre area and waiting only long enough for the ink to dry before rolling it away ready for the next, meant that even he was surprised to see what it contained the first time it was exhibited.

The final third of the drawing will be unrolled on Monday 19 August and the exhibition (which also features works by Barry Cleavin) closes on Sunday 1 September.
