Behind the scenes
There are many ways to visualise three-dimensional space, and we're generally happy to employ whatever methods we need to in order to plan the layouts of gallery spaces.
And while the wonders of modern technology are plentiful, sometimes floor plans and isometric views on screen don't always give a complete picture of three-dimensional space.
Thus, when we were presented with the space pictured below to utilise as a gallery, we were pretty quick to draw it up on the computer and start reconfiguring it for our own purposes.
Thus, old school techniques like model-building come to the fore, glue guns and foamcore replacing keyboards and pixels.
But no matter the amount of tinkering we do - whether digitised or miniaturised - the net result is that there's nothing like being in the physical space itself (where real walls are built in a far messier and noisier fashion).
But best of all is that when all the prep has been done we can let the artists - and the art - loose in there, where they take those newly created walls and transform them into something else entirely. So, if you haven't had the pleasure of visiting our gallery space(s) at 209 Tuam Street then I highly recommend you do. These photos give you a glimpse of what you're in for - murderous movie posters and eye-popping patterned environs - but remember, they're no substitute for actually being in the space.
