This was the sixth annual Print Council of New Zealand exhibition to be held. Since 1971 membership of the Council was restricted to active printmakers. There were works by well established printmakers as well an encouraging number of young printmakers whose names appear in a Print Council catalogue for the first time.

It is interesting to note that Stanley Palmer's Norfolk Farm, one of the works in this exhibition, was also included in the 10th International Biennial Exhibition of Prints in Tokyo 26 November 1976 – 9 January 1977.
