The Memorial Hall Collection of Pictures owned by the Christchurch Technical Institute was assembled by the late McGregor Wright and later put on permanent loan at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery.

A special display offered the opportunity to see the early work of many prominent New Zealand artists from the thirties, such as Sydney Lough Thompson, Menzies Gibb, Rita Angus, Austen Deans, Dame Ngaio Marsh, Margaret Stoddart, Russell Clark and Olivia Spencer Bower.
