Etchings and Engravings from Sir John Ilott's Collection

This exhibition is now closed

This exhibition was a selection from the Sir John Ilott Gift Collection courtesy of the New Zealand National Gallery and was exhibited as part of the 1961 Christchurch Arts Festival.

Eighty artists were represented including Dürer, Rembrant, Goya, Manet, Renoir, Augustus John, Whistler and Sir Muirhead Bone.

The etchings and engravings were displayed in sections which found favour with the public, according to W S Baverstock.

One bay was dedicated to the work of Sir Lionel Lindsay, who had recently died. This bay remained in place for the next exhibition: Painting from the Pacific.
