Denise Copland has been a consistent advocate for the conservation of forests, exploring the enduring relationships between humans and the kahere. In her work, she follows the development of global warming and climate change, arguing for ecological responses that acknowledge the interconnectedness of people, land and other species. Here, she casts humans s predators for the impact we have made on the environment and avifauna, specifically the kākāpō. Using embossed printmaking, Copland’s process echoes the pressure and imprint of our mark on the land.
