From the series 'Lovers', eleven plates designed by George Moutard Woodward (ca. 1760-1809) and etched by Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827), published by Hooper & Wigstead, 1797-98.
The others in the series are entitled 'Drunken lovers', Quarrelsome lovers', 'Dukes place lovers' 'Aged lovers', 'Avaricious lovers', 'Forgiving lovers', 'Spiritual lovers', 'Country lovers', 'Platonic lovers' and 'Bashful lovers'.
