Packed with emotional intensity and storytelling detail, this woodcut print by Albrecht Dürer pictures the moment of Jesus’s arrest. A painter as well as a printmaker, Dürer is regarded as the greatest artist of the German Renaissance. He returned to the theme of the Passion several times; this work is from a series of large woodcuts completed between 1497 and 1510.
