'In the Swiss town of Sion, the ruined Tourbillon Castle faces the fortified eleventh-century basilica of Notre-Dame de Valère (also known as Valère Castle) on the opposite hill. Lee exhibited an oil painting of the same composition titled 'Tourbillon and Valère' at the Royal Academy in 1910 (no. 109).'
