Populate! update #13 (Face Books)

Behind the scenes

Thirty books...over forty faces at the Peterborough Street Library. Face Books (opening May 11, just after our birthday) brings together an array of portraits from artist's books drawn from the Gallery's library.

The library has been actively acquiring artist's books and fine private press publications over the past four years or so with the help of some very generous friends of the Gallery including Jim Barr and Mary Barr, Max Gimblett, Alan Loney and Leo Bensemann's family.

Portraits by artists as varied as Edward Burne-Jones, Aubrey Beardsley, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Max Gimblett, Eileen Mayo, Richard Killeen, Julian Dashper and Colin McCahon are included...here are three of my favourites.
