A trip to Hanmer has never been complete without a visit to the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa, not for a relaxing soak in the sulphur pools these days mind, but rather the exhilarating ride on the SuperBowl, a swirling ride from 15m above the complex where '...riders enjoy centrifugal forces keeping them high on the wall for several turns that ends with a drop through an enclosed finishing flume into the splashdown pool...' - I staggered back to the sulphur pools after that one.

The experience did get me thinking how much those British linocut artists from the 1920s and 1930s would have enjoyed the experience of all that swirling speed.
