Kilmore Street in particular has taken a real battering in the past few weeks with views from Peterborough Street opening up further and further into the CBD as a curtain of buildings are slowly ripped apart. Here's a few shots of some disappearing buildings passed on the way to work at the Gallery.

Being continually surrounded by all this destruction is an interesting experience but you need to get away from it all sometimes... where better than a day trip to Arthur's Pass, the pure antithesis of living in a demolished city. This view is of the upper reaches of the Bealey River near the main divide and the pass that leads over to the Otira Gorge – Van der Velden country. It's got to be good for you.
