Multi-tasking god

Behind the scenes

The Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore is packed with interesting artifacts, but to me the most beautiful things are the statues that depict deities from different religions.

My new personal favourite is Quan Am (also known as Guanyin) who is a Buddhist god/goddess. She is extremely popular because she listens to prayers and helps and alleviates suffering. She works so hard helping everyone, one pair of hands just isn't enough, hence the extras. Each hand is holding a different object so that Quan Am can use to help solve everyone's problems.

Even though she is so busy she is presented as serene. Her eyes are shut and two pairs of hands are relaxed as she meditates. So cool under pressure! I wish this is how I look when my 'to do' list is longer than my arm.
