It has now been officially announced that the Christchurch Art Gallery is to be disposed of altogether. As a result a fierce bidding war is developing between rival theme park managers to see who will take over the coveted site. Sources close to the City Council indicate that the Disney Corporation could be the preferred option. Said an insider: "We have a lot of experience running a Mickey Mouse operation."

But it's no one horse race, as Warner Brothers are also showing a keen interest. Said a source close to the centre of Council decision-making: "Daffy is absolutely our style. Goofy is very much where our experience lies."
