Room with a view

Behind the scenes

The view from the windows of our new exhibition space in Madras Street is not one you can easily put into words.

But standing amongst the desolation is the old High Street Post Office, government built in the early 1930s to last. This building (the grey and cream one behind the lamp post) has become somewhat of a beacon in this neck of the woods and I think its proportions (square and 4 storeys high) are something to be considered in any re-build of the Christchurch CBD. Christchurch Art Gallery staff are very much looking forward to the Physic's Room reopening here in the near future, as well as Alice in Videoland and C1 cafe - can't wait.
