Robert Johnson was a distinguished New Zealand born painter who from 1921 lived in Sydney and painted widely in both countries. He had many successful exhibitions and 40 of his paintings hang in national galleries.
The artist visited central Australia in the winters of 1955 and 1956 and there painted the 61 landscapes in this exhibition which toured New Zealand.
A talk was given by Mrs Molly McNab, Women's Hour personality from the 3ZB radio station, whose colourful impressions held the attention of the audience and added much interest to the exhibition of Johnson's paintings.
