The Robert McDougall Art Gallery organised this exhibition with works borrowed from private owners all over the country.
The exhibition comprised egg tempera on gesso panel, a technique Sydney favoured to develop the atmosphere he intended to convey in his paintings. There were also oils, watercolours, etchings, working drawings and pencil studies.
The exhibition was very successful with an attendance of 12,960 and overwhelmingly favourable comments.
