Michael Morley: The Black Album

This exhibition is now closed

The Black Album featured backstage footage shot by Michael Morley of a performance by Iggy Pop and the Stooges at the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in Minehead, England in December 2006. Morley, one of New Zealand's most respected sound artists, has overlaid this footage with a 19-minute sound art piece recorded specifically for the images.

Morley has been producing sound works since 1980 and video works since 1989. He recently graduated with a Master's Degree in Painting from the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts. He performs in a number of noise bands including The Dead C and Gate.
