The centennial of the founding of Canterbury was marked by this major exhibition of 118 works, assembled from a variety of sources. Works came from public and private collections in New Zealand, 25 contemporary works were leant by the British Council, two by Winslow Homer came from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and a selection of miniatures came from the Royal Miniature Society.
