Dr. Barbara Ebersole Lecture

This exhibition is now closed

Barbara Ebersole, an American artist and art teacher, will visit Christchurch this month and has agreed to give an illustrated free lecture at the United State Information Service Ibis House, Hereford Street, Christchurch, in association with the Robert McDougall Art Gallery on Friday, July 29th at 1.15 p.m.

Dr. Barbara Ebersole, Ph.D. in Fine Art, Ohio State University, is very well known in her own country and the many other countries where her husband's service has taken them such as India, Philippines, Portugal, Chile, Guatemala.

She is well known as an artist in her own right, also, but her lecture will begin with a brief look at women's role in the art in early U.S. history, and the beginning of the 20th century. The major emphasis, however, will be on the period since 1950 and the influence of American women artists on the current art movements, art criticism, gallery direction, and art history. The lecture will last 45-50 minutes, followed by a question and answer period.
