Dr Melissa Reimer is a gallerist and freelance copywriter.

Melissa's particular fields of research include nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature (namely the works of Katherine Mansfield and her contemporaries), and impressionism in the arts. Melissa will draw comparisons between the urban landscapes of mid-nineteenth-century Paris (including the boulevard scenes of Degas and Caillebotte) before and after the Franco- Prussian war of 1870-1, and post-quake Christchurch. Her presentation utilises images from both periods and considers the similarities and differences within a sociopolitical and historical context.
