Christchurch sculptor Graham Bennett talks about recent developments in his practice, centred on his 2010/11 series Weighting and Waiting, exhibited in Auckland and Dunedin.

Christchurch sculptor Graham Bennett has exhibited extensively both locally and internationally since 1980. One of his signature works – and perhaps his most ambitious – Reasons for Voyaging has graced the forecourt of the Gallery since its opening in 2003. Bennett's lecture will allow us to catch up with recent developments in his practice, centred on his 2010/11 series Weighting and Waiting, exhibited in Auckland and Dunedin. Recently returned from a trip to Spain, Bennett will discuss: 'Issues [that] confront us, and the uncertainty of how much time we have to address them – between these two poles  tenuous relationship holds ... what, we wonder, and where, are the tipping points?
