Paris-based artist Etienne de France, currently in New Zealand for the Te Whare Hēra International Artist Residency, speaks about his work ahead of his exhibition in Wellington in early April.
Etienne will show examples of his previous and ongoing projects and explore a central theme in his artistic practice: the relationship between nature and modified landscapes. He will also discuss his new film work, The Green Vessel, which addresses, among other themes, the dairy industry, hyper-cartography and science-fiction, using the format of a fictional documentary to question the role of landscape as a space for struggle and the imagination
The Te Whare Hēra International Artist Residency programme is run by Massey University’s School of Art and the Wellington City Council and also supported by The French Embassy in New Zealand.
