Marcantonio Raimondi established an influential print workshop in Rome in 1513 in partnership with the celebrated Italian painter Raphael. Raimondi’s engraving of Jesus’s close friends and followers removing his body from the cross relates to three drawings for an uncompleted painting by Raphael.
