This print depicts an oil painting by Domenico Fetti (1589 - 1623) of which two versions are known.
One is held at the Courtauld Institute, London and is known as 'Adam and Eve at work'.
The second is in the Louvre Museum Paris, inventory number INV 280, and is known variously as 'La vie champètre', 'Le premier age: Eve filant et Adam labourant' or 'La fileuse'. The Louvre records five different engravings of this painting.
