The art of drawing is a many-angled process, starting with whatever is being studied or imagined; connecting the hand to what the eye or mind sees; delivering marks to the waiting page. It offers a way to rapidly store or quietly test ideas, and a way to develop those ideas and skills without judgment. It can be about gathering and retaining information for later reuse and development. But it can just as easily satisfy as an independent art in itself, and – in allowing uncertainty – offer a sense of space and the freedom to investigate.
