Independence day

Behind the scenes

Just another day here in New Zealand, but the number one holiday in the United States.

So to mark the day here's a spot of early 80s Dick Frizzell, inspired by his trip across America in a Chevrolet Concourse station wagon, with his wife and three children. The advice he got on this trip from American artist Neil Jenney was to go home: 'Your job is to represent your culture - YOURS - not mine. Your job - if you're serious is to go home - back to New Zealand - and start digging.'

Fortunately for us, he took this advice, and is still digging.
