2006, fibreglass, beech wood, beech bark, fungi, beeswax and mixed media
Cat Simpson’s distinctive sculptures combine natural found objects such as seeds, wood and beeswax with formal structures and objects to create whimsical, imaginative narratives. Here, she transforms fibreglass casts of baths and basins into strange and fantastical landscapes populated by a mysterious Salamander and bee beings. In doing so, she unearths an uncharted world governed by magic and nonsensical laws.
