Patron
2006, sensors, monitors, cameras, mirrors
Within its illusory structure of mirrors, monitors and cameras, Patron translates the movement of visitors within the gallery space into a kaleidoscopic world. This work by Peter Trevelyan codes and maps visitor activity and attendance, suggesting the existence of alternate domains and reminding us of the constant surveillance surrounding us as we go about our daily lives. Trevelyan highlights the disembodied nature of communication and social ritual in the technological age, as it becomes increasingly controlled by various electronic networks and security systems installed in public spaces.
