Ri Williamson graduated in 2003 from the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture. She was granted the Ethel Susan Jones Travelling Scholarship allowing her to travel to Europe and Asia. In 2005, Williamson was supported by Creative New Zealand to undertake a twelve-week residency at the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing. Currently based in Paris, her work was included in the exhibition Remember New Zealand at the 26th Sao Paulo Art Biennial.
