(b. 1971)
Born in Christchurch, Joanne Moar graduated from the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts in 1993 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture. In 1994 she travelled with the Ethel Susan Jones Travelling Scholarship to Germany where she won a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship to continue her studies at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. She recently completed post-graduate studies at the Academy for Media Arts in Cologne, and in 2006 she won the prestigious German Digital Sparks award for becoming german.
