Joanna Langford graduated from the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts in 2004 with a Master of Fine Arts in painting, having completed her undergraduate degree at the Waikato Institute of Technology. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions around New Zealand. The Big Rock Candy Castle, a house she constructed from Hundreds and Thousands biscuits, was included in the 2004 National Contemporary Art Award exhibition. Langford is currently the Olivia Spencer Bower artist in residence at The Arts Centre, Christchurch.
