Shape

Shape can be geometric or organic. They are used in artworks to show the outline of something familiar or to make a pattern.

Shape doesn't always have to be a flat colour. In the painting to the left Rita Angus has drawn the leaves on the pot plant as a series of clearly defined shapes and then added soft changing colour.
