Ape To Zip: Adventures in Alphabet Art, 13 May 2005 – 8 October 2006
In the exhibition Ape to Zip, this work was used for the letter D and was displayed with the following label:
DIRTY DISHES D also stands for difficult and detailed drawing! But what about dinner? Was it a disaster? Now it looks a bit disgusting … This drawing was made with charcoal, or burnt sticks of wood. How many burnt matchsticks can you find in this drawing?

The Drawing Collection
Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū's Drawing Collection significantly expanded in the late 1970s, when a conscious effort was made to purchase works on paper from the varied disciplines of drawing. Prior to this, drawings came into the Gallery Collection via gifts or bequests, such as three illustrations by British/French artist George Du Maurier, gifted in 1934 by the Trustees of the artist.
