In 1953, Sir Rex Nan Kivell from London's Redfern Gallery, packaged a selection of more than one thousand prints by the leading British artists of the day into four separate parcels. He sent the parcels to the public art galleries of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and this was to become one of the most significant offerings to the public print collections of New Zealand. This beautifully illustrated publication reflects Nan Kivell's original list and is a celebration of a generous gift which has provided a snapshot into the most significant period in the history of the print in Britain.
