Occasionals in the fire 2009 [47:44]

Christchurch-based sonic artist Simon Kong has worked as a sound engineer for over eighteen years. In 1995 he became obsessed with an exploration of the various sonic characteristics of sound waves when travelling within confined interior spaces. As such many of Kong's live performances revolve around his knowledge of the physics of sound. In 2004 he devised the concept of the Third Space — an alternate sonic layer that is expressed in and around an existing sound event using equipment as varied as domestic stereos, underwater speakers, sine wave generators, field recordings and digital effects.
