Joanna Langford: Up from the plainlands

This exhibition is now closed

Joanna Langford's Up from the plainlands was commissioned by the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū in 2009. Up from the plainlands is a magical landscape of monumental size yet delicate construction, with white plastic bags inflated into clouds suspended above a kebab stick scaffolding structure supporting a grassy landscape.

Born in Gisborne in 1978, Joanna Langford studied Media Arts in Hamilton followed by a Masters in Painting at the University of Canterbury. She has been awarded residencies in Christchurch, Wanganui, Iceland and Scotland.
