Waitangi Day Concert Sunday 6 February


'A sweet summer mix of Maori Celtic folk-jazz, Samoan tropic soul and reggae'

Bring a picnic lunch and join us on Sunday 6 February from 12 - 3pm for live music on the forecourt featuring Emeralds & Greenstone, Pacific Underground, Amiria Grenell, Redford Grenell and Brent Thompson. Don't forget to bring some shade and sun block as it can get hot out there!

We begin and end the day with free screenings of award winning New Zealand film, The Strength of Water, set and shot in Hokianga by playwright Briar Grace-Smith and directed by Armagan Ballantyne. Sreenings are at 10.30am and 3.30pm in the Philip Carter Family Auditorium.

The portable hangi will be fired up supporting He Waka Tapu at 11.30am and 1pm. Just $10 for an awesome lunch and Alchemy Café's bar bites menu will also be available for $17.50 including a beer or wine.

Pacific Underground presents Island Summer the latest live concert created by Pos Mavaega and Tanya Muagututi'a. Traditional and origional music of Samoa and New Zealand – a celebration and tribute to the first wave of families that landed in New Zealand in the 1950s.

Amiria Grenell is joined by ex Shapeshifter drummer Redford Grenell and Brent Thompson on bass performing 'Super charming songs, with lyrics that make you smile' She hails from the famous Grenell Family – country legend dad – John Grenell, hiphop jazz producer brother –Oakley Grenell and multi instrumentalist – Redford Grenell.
