This Wednesday night
Don't miss our talks this Wednesday – we'll be concentrating on the country both idealised and exposed in art and literature.
Curator Peter Vangioni will be looking at the An Idyllic Country exhibition, and talking about the ideals and realities of country life. This will be followed by Prof Patrick Evans from Canterbury University talking about his contentious book on the role of colonial capitalism in the formation of NZ literature, Paradise and the Slaughter House: Settlement and Forgetting.
Patrick was my favourite lecturer when I was an undergrad and he tells me he's up for a good debate at the end of his talk! Come along and join in.
