All things must pass
Last Friday evening saw two Christchurch noise bands take to the rooftop of the Physics Room building on Tuam street to perform a short set to the wider cbd and anyone who cared to listen.
Purple Mountain Eagle celebrating 20 years in style.
Purple Mountain Eagle (featuring two Christchurch Art Gallery staff members) and Fence braved a howling nor'wester and performed to a crowd gathered on the streets below. The sets were largely improvised noise including guitar rumblings and feedback / found radio frequencies / back beat drumming / and the siren like wailing of a theremin.
Fence pulling out their crowd favourites.
The view of the desolate CBD from the top was quite staggering.
The heart slowly being ripped out of Christchurch

The Theremin makes an appearance on 'Big Bang Theory' AND the roof of the Physics Room in the space of a week. A resurgence of the instrument perhaps? Thank goodness the Mayans only give us about another 40 odd days of existence. Theremin aside I hope a repeat performance is in the offing.

Looks like an open glass container in the first photo. If you tried that in Arizona a SWAT team would have been sent in to close down the Purple Mountain Eagles
