On a recent holiday in Sydney I visited the Museum of Contemporary Art. With its stunning location over-looking the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the sculpture terrace on the top floor is a great place to enjoy a coffee and slice of cake.
I was on a tight schedule so didn't have long here, but what did catch my eye was Steven Birch's Untitled 2005. It's a full-size sculpture of Spiderman facing the wall where there is this strange arm-shaped head looking back at him. Very creepy, yet so well done!
Part of the Primavera 2012 exhibition which sticks in my mind is Anastasia Klose's THE RE-LIVING ROOM. Here the artist re-lives her 2-month period of unemployment, by performing live behind a glass window. She dances around to old music videos copying their every move, watches television and sits around eating junk food. This is brilliant to watch! What impressed me most was the look of sheer dedication on her face to ensure she was getting the moves to the dance videos correct! She never cracked a smile once, even with the 15 tourists grinning at her from the other side of the screen.
